    A bitter astringent that has a weak diuretic and expectorant effect

    It may be used for:

    • problems with the lungs (respiratory tract)
    • stomach and intestines (gastrointestinal tract)
    • and bladder and kidneys (urinary tract)
    • gout
    • arthritis, muscle and joint pain (rheumatism)
    • loss of appetite
    • liver problems
    • and diseases of the spleen

    Veronica is also used as a tonic, to cause sweating, to “purify” blood, and to increase metabolism.
