A bitter astringent that has a weak diuretic and expectorant effect

It may be used for:

problems with the lungs (respiratory tract),
stomach and intestines (gastrointestinal tract),
and bladder and kidneys (urinary tract).
gout,
arthritis, muscle and joint pain (rheumatism),
loss of appetite,
liver problems,
and diseases of the spleen.

Veronica is also used as a tonic, to cause sweating, to “purify” blood, and to increase metabolism.
