Description

• Perennial
• Thymus pulegioides is native to Europe.
• It is a spreading subshrub with four-angled stems and strongly aromatic, ovate-eliptic leaves, to 1cm. long.
• Tiny pink to purple flowers, with leaf-like bracts, appear in interrupted whorls in summer.
• It needs well-drained soil and full sun and is drought tolerant, once established.
• The flowers are attractive to butterflies.
• Clip plants lightly immediately after blooming, to maintain a compact habit.
• Ideal as container-plants or you can grow them over a wall feature or along the edge of a flower border.

Culinary Uses

• It falls between upright and creeping thyme and has the same properties and taste.
• Has an excellent culinary flavour.
• Fresh or dried leaves and flowering tops are used to flavour soups, meat, fish, sausages, marinades, vinegar, oil, stuffings and baked vegetables.
• It will retains it flavour well in slowly cooked dishes.
