- Brilliantasia is indigenous to the tropical areas of South Africa.
- It is a hardy, semi-deciduous, fast-growing shrub that can grow up to 1-2m.
- Brilliantasia has large bright glossy leaves and bears spikes of big mauve, salvia-like flowers in late spring until the end of autumn.
- The flowers are incredibly long lasting.
- Although it is called Giant Salvia – it is not really a salvia.
- It needs sun for part of the day and should be well watered to flower best.
- Prune back at the beginning of spring to promote new upright growth.
- A gorgeous filler in the garden.
- With its striking flowers it is a lovely background plant for a shady area.
- Attracts insects to the garden.
